CHANGES AFOOT – NEW MINISTRY TEAM

As you are all aware, Steve Campbell has acted as Temporary Minister for part of the year since Joel and Mayra left us two years ago. While Steve and Irene-Maria are willing to continue this arrangement, they are unable to commit themselves to a full-time ministry.  Accordingly, we have borrowed preachers from the other congregations during the rest of the year, an unsatisfactory situation.  Recently Keith Brown joined our congregation and volunteered to preach during this period.  Keith was extensively interviewed by Pastor Davíd Manazanas Pelegrina, President of the Levante Presbytery of the Iglesia Evangélica Española (I.E.E.) and member of the Ministerial Commission, and Pastor Gerson Amat Torregrosa, Secretary of the Presbytery and Theological Lecturer.  On their recommendation, the President of the I.E.E. offered Keith the appointment as Candidato Pastoral with authority to perform all sacraments as is the norm in the denomination. This is the same status as Joel and Mayra held during their tenure of office.  The appointment was conditional on acceptance by the members of the congregation and a vote of full members was taken on Sunday October 9th, at which fifty five votes were recorded for the appointment, none against with one abstention.

Steve and Keith will be of equal status within the Team and it will not be a case of Keith preaching only while Steve is absent, while both are available in Torrevieja the duties will be shared.

We are sure that this is an excellent way forward for our Church and thank God for providing the solution to our long standing need.
