About our Church
La Siesta Evangelical Church is an ecumenical English-speaking congregation comprised of people from many denominations: Church of England, Methodist, United Reformed Church, Church of Scotland, Scottish Presbyterian, Congregational churches, Catholic, and many others. Located in the coastal town of Torrevieja (and less than 10 mins from the city center), we welcome people who are only visiting the area on holiday or for a brief visit, as well as long-term residents of the area. Our church is a member of the Iglesia Evangélica Española (IEE) in the Levante Presbytery in partnership with Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. (Note: “Evangélica” in Spanish simply means Protestant. We are not affiliated with the US evangelical movement.) We are a diverse community that is welcoming and accepting of ALL people regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, ability, or age. Our denomination's Declaración de Mamré (2015) commits all IEE churches to the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people and their families. Our inclusive community believes that everyone is worthy of value and made in the image of God, and that it is a gift that we are called to care for all people as God cares for us.
Our faith community has approximately 60 members, with 35-60 in attendance each week. We are immigrants from other countries, gathering together in intentional community. We also have a reach throughout the world, supporting the mission work of Tracey Williams at an orphanage in Mozambique and missions in other parts of the world.
In order to provide more opportunities to give to our community, we are sharing the Bank account information of our church for people who wish to give online. Note that if you live outside Spain, you will need the church's name, the Account Number (IBAN), and the BIC/SWIFT code; some banks will also ask for the church's address. Transfers arriving from outside the SEPA area (the EU plus the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and a few smaller countries) cost the church a bank fee of about €18. If you are giving from outside that area, please give in larger, less frequent amounts — once or twice a year rather than monthly — so that the fee is charged as few times as possible. Please include your full name in the reference or concept field.
