Today is a special day for our community. We'll be hearing God's word together, welcoming new members into our church family, and sharing in Holy Communion - all reminders that God's love knows no boundaries and that we belong to one another.

In today's gospel reading from Luke, the disciples come to Jesus with a heartfelt request: "Lord, teach us to pray." Jesus responds by offering them a practice that will shape their hearts and draw them closer to God. He invites us into "shameless persistence" in prayer - not because God is reluctant to hear us, but because this kind of trusting conversation opens our hearts to be transformed by the One who loves us deeply.

Sermon Summary: The parable of the Good Samaritan is arguably one of the most familiar lessons of the Christian faith. Yet, its message of loving others across boundaries continues to challenge us, as we consider the question, ‘Who is my neighbour?”

A quote from Dorothy Day said: “I only Love God as much as I love the person I love the least.” Something to think about!

“Choosing The Better Part”.    In today’s gospel reading, the two sisters, Mary and Martha, host Jesus in their home.  As Martha is busily distracted with preparing the meal, Mary sits attentively at the feet of Jesus.  Despite Martha’s plea for help, Jesus affirms Mary’s choice as “the better part.” In a world full of demands and noise, we are reminded that faithful service begins with the loving presence of Christ.

Pastora Judy´s First Service with us.

In Luke’s gospel, Jesus sends out 70 disciples in pairs to bring the good news of God’s Kingdom to villages and towns ahead of Jesus’ arrival. They were sent out in mission with no bag or sandals and were instructed to rely on the hospitality of strangers to provide them with food and shelter. As Jesus’ ambassadors, these 70 disciples were bearers of God’s peace and healing. As Pastora Judy begins her pastoral ministry with La Siesta, she briefly shares some of her own call story and offers thoughts for how this gospel message informs our discipleship and ministry here at La Siesta.
